Description
The English Oak Tree (latin: Quercus robur) is native to most of Europe, but is cultivated in temperate regions, and has naturalized in parts of China and North America. He is a large deciduous tree, with a large circumference up to 4 – 12 meters!
The Majesty Oak is the thickest tree in Great Britain, with a circumference of 12.2 meters. He generally grows for a few centuries, though there are some known to be older, especially if they are regularly coppiced. 'Kongeegen' ('Kings Oak') is estimated to be 1200 years old in Jaegerspris, Denmark, while another specimen in Kvilleken, Sweden, is over 1000 years old and has a 14m circumference.
The Oak Tree is a symbol of power and strength, wisdom and longevity.
