The White Oak tree (latin: Quercus alba) is a long-lived oak native to Eastern and Central North America. It is rare to find a white oak with white bark – usually a light gray in colour; the colour refers to the finished wood.

Trees grown in a woodland will generally be taller than those growing on their own – on their own they grow short and wide.

The White Oak typically grows out in the open, and is part of the oak savanna ecology – an ecology type often simulated in restoration agriculture, growing nut crops in alleyways along with Apple trees, currants, and other species. The Oak Tree is a symbol of stability, power and strength, wisdom and longevity.
